The new Wuoma products, designed by Visa Meisalmi, have now been launched and are available for order. With these products, Visa aimed to highlight familiar shapes and proven functionalities. A great example of this is the oak-veneered Tarju towel hook, which resembles the coat hooks familiar to many from school cloakrooms.
”I wanted to create a modern wooden version of the hook because its shape is incredibly practical. In addition to coats and hats, you can easily hang a shopping bag or a handbag on it, so nothing needs to be placed on the floor. In addition to its functionality, the hook is extremely durable, as it is made of laminated oak veneer,” Meisalmi emphasizes.
Cross-laminated veneer products stand up to comparison with other materials.
Durability and functionality, without forgetting aesthetics, are the cornerstones of Visa’s designs. Public spaces also require easy maintenance, which is a key focus of our products.
”We have discussions with architects, and the question of the durability of wood veneer products in restroom and bathroom spaces occasionally comes up. Wood veneer is an exceptionally durable material. By cross-laminating and bending it in the correct proportions, the structure becomes so strong that it can compete with other materials typically used for these kinds of products. Each product is lacquered to withstand moisture and wear,” says Visa Meisalmi.
The new Staika hand towel rack was created based on demand.
According to an interview study conducted by Wuoma, there has been a clear need for hand towel rack options designed for tables and surfaces. The market has mainly offered plastic solutions. The Staika hand towel rack was created to meet this demand. Staika is an elegant wood-veneered dispenser, currently available in ash, oak, and black oak finishes. It accommodates common paper sizes and is easy to use.
”Staika fits into many spaces. It can be used, for example, in restrooms, offices, or even alongside a buffet table in a restaurant,” says Meisalmi.
