Wuoma sorting bins support a pleasant customer environment at Ratina

The Ratina Shopping Centre in Tampere has chosen Wuoma sorting bins for its premises as part of its commitment to creating a pleasant and responsible customer environment. The centre acquired both single- and triple-compartment bins, making it easy to sort different types of waste correctly.

Hannu Pohjola, property manager at Ratina, says the choice was clear.

“We chose Wuoma because their bins are both practical and stylish. They support our values and help us provide a clean, environmentally responsible space.”

The solution has also received very positive feedback from the cleaning staff. According to Pohjola, the inner container in particular has proven to be highly practical.

“Our cleaners have given very positive feedback on the solution. The inner container is an important part of the whole – waste bags sometimes have small holes, and the inner container prevents liquids from leaking into the bin structures or onto the floor. This makes maintenance easier and significantly improves hygiene.”

Sorting is part of space design – not a separate solution

Petri Ruohonen, CEO of Wuoma, emphasizes that sorting solutions should not be viewed as standalone products, but as part of the overall space.

“Sorting is often seen as just a trash bin that is added to a space at the end. We approach it differently – sorting is part of space design,” says Ruohonen.

When sorting is considered from the beginning, it supports how the space is used and subtly guides users. A well-designed solution fits into its environment, works in everyday use, and makes maintenance easier.

At Ratina Shopping Centre, this is clearly visible. The feedback received is not only about appearance, but above all about functionality.

“The best solutions are the ones you don’t really notice – they simply work as part of the whole,” Ruohonen continues.

For example, the inner container of the sorting bins prevents liquids from leaking into structures, improving hygiene and making maintenance smoother.
